I don't know if this is the right place, but I would like to find out more about my grandfather and his work on Castellorizo. He was a Norwegian engineer who - because of the difficulties of getting work in Norway - went to Greece and among other things helped starting up olive-soap production on the island. His fiancé followed him after a while, they got married and had their first child their. When she left in 1935 she was pregnant with my father. My grandfather returned to Norway about 4 years later. Now they have both passed away, and unfortunately I was not old enough to get really interested in this while they were alive.
Therefore I wonder if any of you Castellorizo Forum users could possibly have some information on civ.engineer Sigbjørn Nedland. Thank you!

Dear tmolnes,
It is wonderful to hear more about the important work of Sigbjorn Nedland on Castellorizo in the late 1920s and 1930s.
Thanks to the generosity of another member of this Forum, 'ingerid' (your cousin - please see her posts), we have learned about his good deeds and, most importantly, about his role in the introduction of electricity to the island. I have also received further information directly from Ingerid and from her uncle in Norway, including various photographs.
Let me know if you already have access to this material. With their permission, I will gladly share it with you.
Nicholas

Hi Nicholas Thanks for your answer - I didn't know that my cousin was joining this forum as well (we live in different parts of the country, and I haven't seen her for years....) I guess I more or less have the same information as her (the uncle mentioned must be my father , but will contact her directly. By the way, I see that I typed the wrong year for my grandmothers return to Norway - as my father is born in 1932 that is of course the right year. And my hope is still that someone outside our family has "news" about my grandparents!
