Just a gentle reminder to all those Members of this Forum who have yet to order their copy of An Island in Time, the first detailed photo-history of Castellorizo between the years 1890-1948.
While there are still some limited stocks, Members are reminded that the edition is strictly limited to 750 copies. With over 500 already sold, there is not much time to order your own copy of this elegant publication that captures within its pages the island's fascinating history through six decades.
Orders may be forwarded to books@castellorizohistory.com or enquiries directed to (02) 9223 8054.

Dear Nicholas, goodmorning from our beautiful island!!!! I was wondering if you have any photos of Mandraki showing our house(it's near the karnayio). I have one since 1950, but Michalis and I would love to make an album of Mandraki so that our kids know how it was. Hope to hear from you soon.!!!! Kindest regards Liza Niti - Papoutsi

My reply is for Liza. Where was exactly the house of your relatives at Mandraki ? On the way of the cemetery ? Close to Asheres, the water tanks ? Close to the old characoal factory ? Close to the football field ? If you clarify where is the "Karnaiyo" maybe I am able to find something in my historical photographic file. In the meantime please have a look to these old post cards all related with Mandraki and try to identify your house ... Best Regards Antonio Attachments:

This last post card indeed doesn't help so much Liza to trace her house at Mandraki. Anyway the post card is showing the location known as "Asheres" (which means the number "10" in Turkish language) ehiche where actually the ten water tanks behind the Mandraki shore. Attachments:
