Hello to everybody!
I am really glad to tell that at last I have a translation of an article published by Achilleas Diamantaras about his grandfather, Diomatari and two other Castellorizians.
It was really hard to translate, but thanks to Anna Amera, a relative from Athens, I finally had a resume about it.
What a surprise to know that Diomatari and his sons acted as pirates during the outbreak of the war of Greek independence in 1821. Vassilios Diamantaras was the captain of Diomatari's ship at the time. Great!
I am reading again Chapter 6 of Nicholas' "Castellorizo. An Illustrated History of the island and its conquerors". At that time, several greeks were pirates, attacking Otoman ships.
Questions:
1) Which conditions (economic/social) started such behavior among Greeks?
2) What is the meaning of the Greek word "Koursos"?
Thanks to all!

Cristian,
Thank you for this post.
To enable me to answer your questions, are you able to send me a copy of this article by Diamantaras in its original form?
Thanks, Nicholas
