Ioannis Diamantis was the long serving Castellorizo Municipal Secretary in the period c.1920.
I have in my family archive some postcards sent by Ioannis Diamantis to my father's uncle Konstandinos Keletzis in Townsville, Queensland. These postcards range in time from 1923 to 1930.
On these postcards Ioannis addresses Konstandinos Keletzis as "Uncle", so Kon. Keletzis was his uncle.
One of these postcards, dating from 28 June 1923, shows a photo of Ioannis's family at the time, namely himself, wife Aikaterini Papasimeon Alexiou, eldest child Chrysanthe and sons Diamantis, Simeon, George(Gallos), Con and, as a baby, Nicholas.
Ioannis and Aikaterini later had three more children, Alexandra, Speros and Gregory.
Another postcard, dated 13 March 1930, shows Ioannis with his two eldest children, Chrysanthe and Diamantis.
When I work out how to do it, I will add these photos to this post. Until then they can be viewed at www.castellorizo.org on the page for Ioannis Diamantis.
According to the Dowry Contract, Ioannis and Aikaterini were married on 23 August 1913.
An annotation to the Contract states that Chrysanthe married Ioannis Christoforou on 3 November 1932.
Ioannis's wife Aikaterini was the daughter of the priest Simeon Alexiou and Alexandra Grigoriou.
Ioannis died in 1932 and the family later migrated to Australia, arriving in Melbourne aboard the "Remo" on 1 September 1935, according to the National Archives of Australia website. They lived in the Brunswick area of Melbourne.
Eldest son Diamantis had earlier come to Australia in 1929 and worked as a tailor with his uncle George Symons (Simeon) in his business in Collins St Melbourne. George Symons was the President of the Kastellorizian Society of Victoria in 1935 and 1936.
I could not find a record of Chrysanthe and Ioannis Christoforou coming to Australia.
Also there is an Application for Alien Registration for Ioannis's daughter Alexandra on the NAA website, dated 26 June 1942, she would have been 18 years old, showing her photo. She uses the surname "Konstas" but states that she was single.
There is some detail about the family on Allan Cresswell's website at www.castellorizo.org.
Also there are two photos of Ioannis and his family in Nicholas's marvellous book "An Island in Time" on pp.102 and 184. Ioannis also appears in several photos of official occasions on Castellorizo.
If any members or relatives of the family, or anyone else, have any further to add about the family I would be interested to see it, particularly if any of Ioannis's children are still alive, which they could well be.
