Greetings to all Kasteloriziotes, My name is Tasos (Anastasios) Smaragdas my family and I would love to hear from someone that might now something about the Smaragdas Family in Kastelorizo regarding dowery, the house my grandparents lived before WWII My grandfathers name was Nikitas Smaragdas my grandmother Xrisoula (Margia tou Gati??) I don't now her maiden name or any one from her family. My grandparent's children Marina ( Maro) pictured in a photo with her teacher Triantafylia Agapitou with her class on the steps of the Santrapeia School in 1931. Nice to hear from you and welcome to The Castellorizo Forum.
A quick trawl of our archive has brought to light information regarding the extended family of Ioannis Smaragdas, but nothing regarding the family of your grandfather Nikitas Smaragdas.
This is quite unusual and usually means they were known by another name. Are you aware of any paratsoukli that was used by the family?
Also, can you give me approximate dates for the births of the four children (I assume they were all born on the island)? And do you know when they left Castellorizo?
