Hello, I have Castellorizo heritage and I am planning a holiday to the island as part of a trip to Greece and Italy. I was wondering if anyone who had been there recently had any opinions on how the refugee situation was going. I did get to the Brisbane conference earlier this year which was great, but did hear about the impacts at that time, with many refugees outnumbering the locals and the tourists.
Also any recommendations on accommodation and tips on flights and ferries would be great. We will most like fly in from Athens and ferry to Rhodes as part of the trip. I have noticed flights are 4 times per week and ferries twice a week.
Thanks

I was there in August, nothing out of the ordinary. We got a flight in and a ferry out (to/from Rhodes). The flight to Kastellorizo is nice but very early; not too expensive either, but the ferry is cheaper. The ferry is quite nice actually, but unless your flexible with dates it can be tricky to line it up with your schedule. We stayed at Hotel Kastellorizo which was a very nice room and excellent service. Their website needs maintenance so if you book with them I'd recommend a phone call. Make sure to spend some time in Rhodes as well, it's a lovely place.
