Hi All Michael Malaxos Tsolakis of Perth provided me with this Apokries Fancy Dress photo taken in Castellorizo. It would be great if some of these persons could be identified which might provide a clue as to the date. Regards Allan

Allan, A difficult one! Children are hard to identify at the best of times, let alone when they're in fancy dress. I have identified three of the adults: Spyros Diamandaras was the nephew of the island's great chronicler and former headmaster, Achilleas Diamandaras, and he, too, taught for many years in the Santrapeia school. Kleovoulos Piangos was an archimandrite from Rhodes who served as a teacher on the island between 1924-1926 and again between 1928-1930. He was noted for his austerity and his habit of knocking on the doors of families whose children were late for school! Ioannis Valsamides worked for many years in the administration of the boys' school on the island. Based on those identified, and the 'AGAPATE ALLILOUS' ('Love one another') sign, I would date the photo at early to mid 1929. Nicholas

Hi Allan! Hi Nick! It has been a long time without visiting this forum. Great to see this photo! Kyrana Constantino sent this photo to me with another fancy dress photo that I wish to post in this fórum. But perhaps I am doing something wrong, because when I click on the "Insert Image" button, appears this text " [/img]" I've inserted the path to the photo, but nothing happens... Could anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Cristian, You need to use an image upload service to upload the image from your computer to the Forum. Try using www.imageshack.us which is a free service. Follow the instructions and then cut and paste the code they give you for forums in to the text of your your post where you want the photo to appear. Good luck with it and please let me know if you have any problems. Nicholas

Hi Cristian
If you wish you can email me privately the photo and I will insert it for you. Ideally the photo is about 1000 dpi wide and about 50 to 100 meg but I can adjust.
On another note I aquired only yesterday a book released in 1990 on the life of Achilleus Diamantaras. I know he ties somehow into your family who went to Brazil and if you don't have a copy I could send you some info.
Best wishes
Allan

Hi! Let's see how it looks: Here is another 'Apokries' fancy dress. Kyrana has no idea about names and year... sorry. Thanks!

Hi Nicholas
I am fairly certain the girl in the second back row, second from the right, in white dress and white hat, is Maria Paldiri ( born 1920) -
Maria has been identified in one of the other school photos and has a quite distinctive mouth - this photo looks very like her.
Cheers, Milli
