One of our members, Saint Simian, wrote as follows in the Kavouras/Beigeorgis/Lefkaritis thread: I'm descended from the Karpouzises, the earliest of whom I have in my database is Konstandinos Karpouzis (b.1803), who married Asimina Anastasa (1815-1905). I'm descended from their son Evstratios Karpouzis (1852-1897).
Try as I might, I can't link your Kristalla Karpouzis (whose father was Anastasis Karpouzis) into my tree. Kastelorizo is such a small island that it would be perverse for these two Karpouzis families not to be related. I don't suppose anyone has more information on the very early Karpouzises? Or on how these two branches might be related? The dowry archive records the following Karpouzis weddings in the period 1895-1930 (the dates are the dowry contract dates): - Rina Efstratiou Karpouzi & Theodoros Christou, 8 October 1896
- Ioannis K Karpouzis & Aikaterini N Stamboulli, 22 March 1907
- Stergos Panagiotou & Irini K I Karpouzi, 22 May 1908
- Konstandinos K Kouvanides & Yeorgia Efstratiou Karpouzi, 5 May 1915
- Spyros Efstratiou Karpouzis & Chrysi Paraskeva Yiorgi, 9 May 1916
If anyone seeks more information on these marriages, they should post their questions here. Nicholas

I know Rina, Yeorgia and Spyros are brothers and sisters, and I have them all in my tree. Thankfully, their middle names betray their heritage. Greek naming systems might not be terribly creative, but they sure are helpful!
Going on this sytem, Ioannis and Irini are also probably brother and sister, although I'm clueless about the rest of their family. Can anyone link them to any other Karpouzises at the time? I'm sure they all must be related, but I don't know the connection. Their father's first name presumably started with "K".
I know the Spyros branch of the Karpouzis family arrived in Australia via Perth and lived for a time in Western Australia. Allan's SA marriages aren't connected to Spyros' branch of the family, but perhaps to the Ioannis branch?

Hi Saint Simian,
Did you already checked the website from ellisisland? The surname karpouzis is written there and also in different ways. For example with a "C". Maybe you can find a link there.

Hi Saint simian,
As far as i understand the dawrycontract for irini karpouzis and stergio panayoti is made up in 1908 when konstantinos I Karpouzis writes the prika for them. BUT...there is also written that this prika comes twenty years after their marriage. I don't know what figatera means. But irini is the figatera of Konst.I Karpouzis.
So they married in 1888.
kind regards,Zowie
