One of our members, Katina, wrote as follows on the Port Pirie thread:
Hi Nicholas,
This is the first time I've written and I'm finding this subject very interesting.
My father and several of his brothers also worked in Port Pirie in the early 1920s before finally moving to Melbourne and Sydney. Their surname was Kambouris. My dad was Con and his brothers, Paul, Jim and Mick. Jim finally moved to Brazil.
Their sisters were Katina (New York) Pareskevou Parthenos (Sydney) and Anastasia Diamond (Sydney) Anastasia is the oldest Kassi in Australia (Bill's grandmother).
Thanks for a very informative forum.

Could you please give me the name of your paternal grandfather so that I may see if any documents in my archive tie up with your father's family. Was it Nikolaos? And did Katina marry a certain Evangelos Kyprios?
Please let me know and I'll see what I can dig out for you.
Nicholas

Hi Nicholas and Katina Hope you don't mind me butting in. Three of the Kambouris brothers married in either SA or VIC. They all married Australians. Their father was nominated as Nicholas Constantine Kambouris and mother as Argyi. There is no recorded marriage for Jim which suggests if he married it was in Brazil. Nicholas had a brother, Dimitri (Jim), whose son, Nicholas Kambouris, married in Port Pirie to Katherine Spartalis and their children married and lived in WA. I connect to the WA Kambouris family very distantly by marriage. All this info is on my website but the Kambouris family has not been closely looked at by me. Hope this assists. Hi Nicholas and Cressie,
I'm Katina who wrote about the Kambouris' at Port Pirie.
You are right - 3 of the brothers married Australian girls. Con, the youngest son married my mum, Myrtle Simpson in 1934 and had 10 children - 4 boys and 6 girls. I am the second girl, the fifth in the family.
My dad died on the 20 August 1980, my mother on 2 April 1985.
None of my siblings or myself married greeks.
My oldest uncle, Paul married a Scottish (possibly Australian) girl. They lived in Manly and my uncle owned the Waffle Bar on South Steine. Their surname is spelt "Cambouris" and have 2 sons, Grant and John. Paul also lived in Russia prior to coming to Australia.
The 3rd oldest brother was Mick who married Jessie, but divorced some years later. He was very prominent in the Kassie Club in Adelaide. They had 2 children, Agiri (Sylvia) and Nick.
I really don't know much about the second brother, Jim, as he did move to Brazil very early on.
All the brothers came to Australia in the early 1920s.
There were also 3 sisters. Katina, who lived in New York. I don't know anything about her family. Paresivou who lived in Sydney and married Alex Parthenos. They had 3 children - Katina, Christos and Agiri. And the youngest child,Anastasia, married Dick Diamond, also from Sydney. They had 3 children - Marcos (who died at the age of 17) Mary - (Bill Alexiou's mother) and Nick who lives in Perth with his wife Julie and their 3 children - Richard, Dean and Anastasia.
My grandparents were Nick and Agiri. My grandfather is listed in the cemetery information and also the petition.
I believe my grandmother's maiden name was Samou and her family came from Simi. She is buried in Rhodes.
I hope this information helps you and I would be pleased to hear if you can give my any more information about my family.
Thanks,
Katina
