Hi All I am having a close look at the Gemenis family and am hopeful that additional info can be obtained from this forum, particularly from Sydney where many members of this family reside. I have extracted available marriage and death records from NSW and WA. It would appear that John Antony Gemenis may have married in Castellorizo but I only have a first name of Evdokia for his wife. An elder brother, Vassilli, may also have married on the island but his wife, Panayiota Tsakounas, has been identified. Two other brothers married in Sydney and the fifth brother, Andrew, I cannot locate a marriage. I only know of one sister, Chrissafina, who married Kon Kavouras (later Constantine), and whose descendants live mainly in Perth. It would appear that she also may have married in Castellorizo or perhaps Asia Minor. The parents of the above were Antony Gemenis and Maria (Marion) (nee Barboutis). Maria died in Perth in 1939 and is connected to the Perth Barboutis families. Any assistance appreciated. What I already have is shown on the website www.castellorizo.orgRegards Allan

Allan,
Ioannis Antoniou Gemenis married Evdokia Konstandinou Koutsoukou on Castellorizo on 18 January 1915. Ioannis' elder brother, Vasilios, married Panagiota A Tsakouni a short time earlier, on 2 November 1914.
As you observe, there were 3 other siblings, two sons and a daughter, Chrysafina, who married Konstandinos Yeorgiou Kavouras. I am unable to find a record of this marriage which probably means that it did not take place on the island.
There are also records for the line of Anastasios Gemenis who appears to have been a brother of Ioannis' and Vasilios' father, Antonios.
Hope this helps.
Nicholas

Hi there I have been tracing this surname in my family genealogy and I would like to know if this is the Antonious Gemenis that operated a beach-de-mur business on Samarai Island, New Guinea shortly after moving to Australia.
